The Madrid city council follows the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (Ruggie brief), which acknowledges the duty of both companies and countries to collaborate in protecting human rights and to establish corrective mechanisms to avoid violations.

The Madrid city council and the Madrid Investment Attraction promote decent employment, equal opportunity, the elimination of discrimination, the protection of social rights, freedom of association and speech and healthcare for professionals and employees.
